Fear of swallowing and fear of choking are often a closely-guarded secret that makes life very difficult.
Swallowing is a fundamental thing we need to do, like breathing or going to sleep. No matter what aspects contribute to this or indeed any other phobia, they are caused by a feeling you don’t like, something that feels wrong, whenever you try to swallow. With some people, this leads to an enforced anorexia with all the symptoms, making it even harder to swallow on a physical level. The discomfort when you swallow or even think about it is caused by the wrong energy in your body, a kind of mixture of perhaps long-forgotten negative thoughts plus negative experiences plus stored wrong energy in your system resulting from these negative experiences. People who are afraid of swallowing typically also find it hard to lie down flat or may have difficulty relaxing.

Fear of swallowing or fear of ingesting or fear of getting sick, although often a distressing secret, is treatable. This feeling is caused by your brain’s fear centre, the amygdala, your adrenal glands, and a few other body components. Everyone is familiar with the fight-or-flight reaction. This is a real feeling caused by your brain and body organs resonding to fear in an inappropriate way. It is this excess, or inappropriate fear response that we release from your mind and body.
For some people a phobia is a symptom of a deeper problem that requires time to solve, and many people often come to us needlessly dismissed by a less experienced therapist, just because it took longer than one session. However the good news is that most phobias are easy to overcome. This is done with a mixture of psychology and energy treatments such NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). Whilst many phobias can be over in just one session, sometimes it takes longer. It depends upon many conditions, and this can be determined at the initial consultation stage.
There is no benefit whatsoever in forcing yourself to face your fear. That is barbaric and pointless.
